When a new padel brand enters the U.S. market, they usually follow a very predictable playbook: throw a massive bag of cash at a top-10 professional player, slap their face on a billboard, and hope the recreational players buy the racket just to feel like a pro.
Pallap USA is taking a completely different approach.
Led by President and Owner Phil Mintz—a 30-year racket sports industry titan who has guided global brands like Head and Dunlop and helped launch the padel revolution stateside—Pallap is betting that the U.S. consumer is getting smarter. Originating in Europe, Pallap is bringing elite-level construction (think European composites, Italian carbon fiber, and multi-layer EVA foams) to North America at a price point that significantly undercuts the legacy heritage brands.
How? By skipping the expensive pro-player endorsement contracts and investing that capital directly back into the engineering and quality control of the racket itself.
We sat down with Mintz to discuss why Pallap’s grassroots strategy is working, how their specific multi-layer foam technology helps aggressive tennis and pickleball crossovers adapt to the glass, and what players can expect from the highly anticipated Evo Force line.
The Transition & The Origin
You are the Founder and President of Pallap USA, having secured the rights to bring this emerging European brand to North America. Given your deep resume in the industry—including helping launch Adidas Padel in the US—what specifically did you see in Pallap's European tech and operations that convinced you it was the perfect brand to introduce to the American market?
Phil: There are many brands from big names to small, unknown names. Brands/products need a reason to exist. Pallap has that reason. We use superior materials, all sourced in Europe. We have premium design and engineering that creates the highest performing rackets at every price point. Our quality control is the best in the industry with the highest tolerances for weight and balance that the big brands cannot match. As the market grows and new players begin to look at “better” rackets, Pallap will be the choice for discriminating players.

The Pricing Disruption Strategy
One of Pallap’s boldest claims is offering elite-level construction—European composites, 15K carbon, and multi-layer EVA foams—at roughly 30% below major competitor prices by skipping the massive pro-player endorsement deals. Without those million-dollar faces on the billboards, what is your grassroots strategy for getting these rackets into players' hands so they can feel the quality themselves?
Phil: We believe this is still a person to person business. There is a multilevel approach: We plan demo days for consumers to try the products, we support coaches with equipment packages, sponsor local tournaments and events and have strategic partnerships with clubs. We are also present in key retailers where the staff does not just put a racket in the customer's hand, but understands the product and can present the benefits.

Engineering for the US Crossover
Pallap utilizes multi-layer foams—wrapping a stiff core with softer outer foams—to provide the feel of a soft racket with the playability of a hard one. Since the US market is currently dominated by aggressive tennis and pickleball crossovers who are still learning the "touch" required for padel, how does Pallap's specific technology help shorten their learning curve?
Phil: Pallap’s technology/engineering provides a “better” product to all players. Each model targets a level/style through combinations of materials in the core, frame and surface. This is why it is important to get the proper guidance on a racket.

The Upcoming Evo Force Line
Models like the Power Star 2026 and Velocity Star are already building a reputation for balancing controlled power with large sweet spots. But we've been hearing about the new Evo Force line. What can our audience expect from the Evo Force, and who is the ideal player profile for these rackets?
Phil: EvoForce has a model for all levels from beginners to professionals. We use advanced engineering to create a racket with a huge sweetspot and superior playing characteristics.
Winning Over Club Operators
You are actively expanding Pallap’s footprint in pro shops and club partnerships across North America. When you walk into a brand-new, multi-million dollar padel facility, what is your pitch to the operator? Why should they stock Pallap alongside—or instead of—the legacy heritage brands?
Phil: As a small brand, we need to select our partners. We offer a superior, quality product that will provide their members a better playing experience. By partnering with Pallap, they are offering something special, not just a big brand that can be purchased anywhere.

The Future of the US Equipment Market
Given your extensive background, where do you see the US padel equipment consumer heading over the next five years? Do you foresee a shift away from "endorsement-driven" buying toward a more "spec-driven" and value-focused player base, and how is Pallap positioning itself to lead that charge?
Phil: I see the market growing at all levels. There are many who will always gravitate to a big brand. Pallap is for a player who is “intune” with the performance of their equipment, and wants a racket that will provide greater quality and performance. Those who want a cool looking padel, high performance and something different from the “herd”..
